HMCS Oriole.

My dream of being a pirate will soon come true. For two weeks I'll be sailing with the HMCS Oriole.

She is the oldest ship in the NAVY, built in 1921 and received her comission from the queen in 1952.

For more info and pics check out the website http://www.navy.forces.gc.ca/oriole/home/index_e.asp

So I have a busy couple of weeks including a tall ship festival, a race and maybe even fishing. I hope to have lots of stories and pictures when I get back.

See you later. YARRR!

Alexander the Fish

Today has been a sad day. Alexander has been poked for the last time. He's not pretending anymore, he's really dead this time.

About Alexander:
Alexander was a red fish bought with the proceeds of my first casino trip in honor of THE Atlantic Trap and Gill night along with Keith (who has also died). Alexander and Keith were brought home in their urine sample cups and intoduced to their new homes.

He was a bit of a trickster; always playing dead in his tree and freaking Sarah out. Contrary to popular belief, he did like to be pet and he like to eat fish meal in the form of pellets.

Alexander had many adventures. He's been to Manitoba twice. He's was exposed to many cold nights (curse you furnace). There was the time he decided to jump out of his aquarium and onto the floor. He was so dark that Dad thought he was a leaf. Then there was the time a tire was thrown on top of his aquarium and the time he was knocked off a tv and hung out in a bathtub for a while. I really enjoyed his first birthday at Red Lobster. Good times.

Thanks to everyone who watched after him.

I'll miss you Alex.

Hot or Cold?

Here`s an embarassing moment for me. A little background for you all. So I`m on this OJT course and we draw a lot. We draw a lot. We draw systems like the Fire main and the ventilation. Anyways, it`s really borring and long. Todaiy we were drawing the fresh water system, both hot and cold. I was copying out the drawing the instuctors gave us but I noticed that on the drawing it showed that the hot water was going into the toilets. This confused me because as you all may know toilets usually have cold water. ``Maybe they do it different in the NAVY`` I said to myself.

My friend, codename Felix (and you need to know she`s a girl) thought we should go investigate for ourselves. We went down below and Felix grabbed a glove from the cleaning locker. We go into the heads (that`s NAVY for bathroom) and she dips her finger into the toilet.

Success! The water was cold and the drawing was messed up. With our investigation complete Felix exits the heads, pulling off the glove. Standing there was a PO (a senior rank guy). Then I come out of the same head. You can just imagine the look we got. The only comment we got was, ``there`s more room in the showers ladies.`` You can only imagine. I didn`t even try to explain and we ran away.

Now there`s a roomer spreading throughout the Pacific fleet.

On a sadder note, I have discovered that my drinking team has a drawing problem.

Cheers
